World: World barley trade forecast reduced to 26.505 mln tonnes this month
USDAs forecast for world barley trade in 2018/19 is currently set at 26.505 mln tonnes versus 27.005 mln tonnes in its February report.
Australia barley export forecast is down 500 thousand tonnes from last month to 4.5 mln tonnes on stronger feed use and uncertain export prospects.
China barley import forecast is down 500 thousand tonnes to 7.5 mln tonnes and Tunisias barley import forecast is down 250 thousand tonnes to 650 thousand tonnes on trade pace to-date.
The estimate of global barley trade in 2017/18 is 26.512 mln tonnes.
World barley production is expected to reach 140.713 mln tonnes in 2018/19 versus 140.602 mln in the February forecast and 143.682 mln tonnes in 2017/18.
Total consumption is seen at 141.776 mln tonnes vs. 142.197 mln tonnes in February and 147.215 mln tonnes in 2017/18.
Global ending stocks of barley are forecast at 18.448 mln tonnes vs. 17.914 and 19.511 mln tonnes, respectively.
